Caso real: Pierre, inversionista canadiense
The Temporary Resident Visa by Investment lets a foreigner legally reside in and run their company in Mexico for up to 4 years, immediately extending residency to spouse, children, and parents, with access to healthcare and education. It's structured through an SRLCV, which serves as financial backing before Mexico's immigration authority.
The limbo of "permanent tourism"
For many foreigners, entering Mexico on a tourist permit looks like the simplest path at the start. But living in an endless cycle of border runs and re-entries creates a quiet, constant anxiety — the fear that an immigration officer will question your reasons at the airport, or that you won't be able to open a fiscal bank account, register a vehicle, or protect your assets legitimately.
Living under a tourist stamp isn't freedom; it's an invisible leash that slows the growth of your legacy. Running a business or holding property without the right migratory status is a high-risk bet: if authorities detect paid work or business administration without the proper permit, you're exposed to serious fines and the freezing of your operations.
The family immigration shield
The Temporary Resident Visa by Investment is the ideal bridge for the smart entrepreneur:
Stability and rights: the right to legally reside and run your own company for up to 4 years
Family protection wall: immediately extends residency to your spouse, children, and parents
Full access: your loved ones gain legitimate access to excellent healthcare and education in Mexico
A successful business in Mexico is an incomplete structure if its owner has to leave the country every six months just to keep it alive.
The strategy of formality
The right path is structuring your investment through an SRLCV. This corporate entity serves as the optimal financial backing before Mexico's immigration authority (INM) to demonstrate economic ties and obtain residency transparently. It's the core of Step 7 (Migratory Permits) in my 8-step roadmap.
Real case: Pierre, Canadian investor
Pierre ran a hostel on the Yucatán coast as a tourist, living under the stress of constant border trips. After following the method, we formed his SRLCV and handled his migratory permits in Mérida. Today, Pierre and his family are legal residents: his kids attend a local bilingual school, and he runs his business in complete peace.
Beware of shortcuts
The online "fixer" who promises a residency process with no requirements is selling you fraud. Mexican law is strict; protecting your family requires an orderly process before a Notario Público and federal authorities. Residency isn't the first step — it's the final piece of a well-planned Soft Landing.
What is the Temporary Resident Visa by Investment in Mexico?
It's an immigration permit that grants a foreigner the right to legally reside in and run their company in Mexico for up to 4 years, extending residency to their economic dependents: spouse, children, and parents.
How does an SRLCV relate to obtaining residency?
The SRLCV serves as the financial backing that Mexico's immigration authority requires to demonstrate economic ties. It's the legal vehicle that supports the Temporary Resident Visa by Investment application transparently.

Buying Property in Mexico as a Foreigner | 2 Legal Paths You Need to Know English Español The Question Everyone Asks Can Foreigners Really Own Property in Mexico? The answer is yes — and it is fully legal, well-established, and used successfully by thousands of retirees and investors from the United States, Canada, and Europe every year. But before exploring the two legal paths available, there is one concept you must understand clearly: the Restricted Zone. ⚠ Understanding the Restricted Zone The Mexican Constitution limits direct foreign ownership within 50 km (31 miles) of any coastline and 100 km (62 miles) of any international border. This includes destinations like Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, and much of Baja California. However, this does not mean foreigners cannot own property there. It simply means ownership must be structured...
